On Behalf of | Jan 19, 2018 | Celebrity

A paternity lawsuit can be filed when a couple has children outside of marriage and the father wishes to establish rights as custody, visitation, child support and in some cases DNA test. This suit can also be filed by the mother if an alleged father denies the parentage.

Today we’d like to share with you some of the most famous cases of paternity suits.

1. Eddie Murphy. In 2006 he started dating singer Melanie Brown, she became pregnant and Murphy denied being the father. Following a suit, he had to take a DNA test that confirmed he was indeed the father of the child.

2. Kourtney Kardashian. After a break with long time boyfriend Scott Disick, she became pregnant and gave birth to a boy. A model named Michael Girgenti claimed they had been together and demanded a DNA test. The result came back negative and it was proven that Scott was the father of the child.

3. Jay Z. In 2009 a paternity suit was filed by the family of Rymir Satterhwaite, his alleged son, who is now 24 years old. His mother Wanda claims to have hooked up with the rapper back in 1992 and when she became pregnant she had no way of contacting Jay. Until this day Jay has managed to avoid taking a DNA test and the case is scheduled to settle in court.

4. Keanu Reeves. In 2009 a hardcore fan of the actor accused him of being the father of her four children, and filed a paternity suit asking for child and spousal support. After the test results confirmed Keanu wasn’t the father of any of the children the suit was dismissed.

5. Elizabeth Hurley. In 2001 she filed a paternity suit against multi-millionaire Steve Bing, claiming he was the father of the child. The results came back positive and he has provided child support ever since.

6. Chris Rock. In 2007, he was sued for child support by Kali Bowyer, who claimed he was the father of her son. The DNA results came back negative and the suit was dismissed.
